To yield an excellent band score, a conduced preparation is needed. A section-wise planning for preparation is a more preferable method to start your learning. Starting off with the Reading Section.

1.  Reading Section examines your skills to analyze and scan the content taken from the books, newspaper articles, journals and magazines. Other notable abilities are to recognize the attitude, tone and the purpose of the paragraph. Mainly, the top skills are skimming and scanning the reading comprehension and jot down the answers simultaneously. The reading context will be from a generic topic that you might face at the academia level.

2.  Writing Section consists of two tasks from which your writing, structuring and formatting skills will be assessed. The two tasks will pose the problem statement in the form of visual graphics, graph, pie chart or statistical diagram. You will be asked to produce a synopsis for the following pictorial representation. For the first task, the word limit would be 150 words in 20 minutes. While for the second task, the word limit being 250 words and time 40 minutes. Whenever you start jotting down the points, make sure you differentiate the flow into three parts: introduction, main body and conclusion as given in the figure.

3.  As the name suggests, Speaking Section examines the spoken English proficiency and the command over fluent conversation. In this, the interview is scheduled with the examiner which is being recorded all the time. The entire test consists of 3 parts with the duration of 11 to 14 minutes. Beginning with the first part, one has to briefly introduce and talk about his/her preferences. While, in the second part you have to prepare an introductory speech about the given topic. Total 3 minutes will be allotted, 1 minute for preparation and 2 minutes for speaking about the topic.

4.  Last but not the least, Listening Section has been designed to evaluate your alert and sound mind to understand the values inculcated in the recorded audios. A total 4 audios will be played, out of which 1st and 3rd will be a dialogue between two people. While 2nd and 4th audio will be a monologue which will be educational or factual centric. Make sure you listen and understand each statement and word carefully before jotting down the answers.
